Charging a Volvo XC40 Recharge

The XC40 Recharge comes with a battery size of 78kWh and has an official WLTP range of 264 miles.

Charging times will, of course, vary based on the power of the charger; a 7kW home charger, for example, will take around 11.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%, providing an approximate range per hour of 23 miles*. The total cost of home charging from empty to full, based on an electricity tariff of 14p/kWh, will be £10.92.

The XC40 Recharge comes with a CCS connector option, enabling you to make use of the rapid charging network that is expanding across the UK. Plugged into a 150kW charging station, the XC40 Recharge will charge from 20-80% in just 20 minutes.

Note: The XC40 has a max AC 1-phase rate of 7.4kW and 3-phase rate of 11kW. In addition to a max DC rate of 150kW.

Charging Times**:

  • 2.1kW (3-pin plug) = 37h for 0-100%
  • 3.7kW = 21h for 0-100%
  • 11kW (3-Phase) = 7h for 0-100%
  • 50kW = 1h for 20-80%

*Based on WLTP range

**Charging times are estimates and will vary depending on factors such as the charger in use and temperature of the battery.
