Charging a Jaguar I-PACE

The Jaguar I-PACE comes with a battery size of 90kWh and has an official WLTP range of 292 miles. However, the real-world range hovers around 230 miles, depending on driving factors.

Charging times will, of course, vary based on the power of the charger; a 7kW home charger, for example, will take a little under 13 hours to charge from 0% to 100%, providing an approximate range per hour of 22 miles*.

The Jaguar I-PACE has a CCS connector option enabling you to make use of the rapid charging network that is expanding across the UK. Plugged into a 150kW charging station, the Jaguar I-PACE 2will charge from 0-80% in around 40 minutes.

Note: It is worth highlighting here that the I-PACE has a max DC rate of 100kW, this means if you plugged into a 150kW charger, you would still be charging at 100kW. Its max AC rate is 7.4kW, again, if you plugged into a 22kW AC charger, the battery will charge at 7.4kW.

The temptation is to directly compare it to Tesla’s Model X, which boasts a more extended range but costs an additional £20k; however, the I-PACE drives and performs differently to a Tesla.

The modern styling coupled with a seductive artificial spaceship sound (which is optional), its speedy, precise and powerful performance makes for a compelling EV. If that wasn’t enough, it can also handle off-roading with a matter of ease that doesn’t exist in many other comparable EV’s.

If you are looking for a family-friendly SUV that is both elegant and a pleasure to drive, the I-PACE could be the EV for you. Although the real-world range is closer to the 200-mile mark than the promoted 300-mile range, the I-PACE is still more than capable of meeting the needs of the majority of UK car owners.
